We provide discreet professional services and have the utmost compassion when dealing with victims and their families.  Because of the potential dangers and diseases that can be transmitted through cleaning these scenes, it’s important that you hire a professional company to perform these tasks. Dangers associated with Violent Crime Cleanup inside a structure

Any tissue or bodily fluid is classified as a biohazard per Federal regulations.  Whenever a violent crime occurs within a building, or when a body begins to decompose within its interior, the surrounding building materials become contaminated with a variety of toxic agents. For example, blood stains on the carpet typically soak through the carpet and seep into the flooring beneath.  Effective environmental cleaning not only removes the biohazard from the carpet, but also from its supporting under structure.   Bio Scene Clean Up is experienced in following all biohazard remediation protocols. We are trained to completely remediate any biohazards associated with the cleanup and remediation of Crime Scenes.

Special equipment, such as protective gear, must be worn by out trained technicians in order to protect them from the hazardous materials they are handling. Diseases such as the Flu, including Type A and H1N1, HIV/AIDS, Type A and B Hepatitis, TB, Cholera, and Salmonella are all diseases that can be transmitted from bodily fluids.  These fluids escape into the environment any time a body decomposes, whether a person commits suicide, is murdered, or suffers some type of tragic, accidental death.

Because of these dangers, Bio Scene Clean Up suggests that untrained individuals never attempt to cleanup a crime scene that involves biohazards. If you attempt to clean a biohazard scene and it’s not done properly, you may be held liable for procedures that weren’t followed and any health compromises caused to others as a result. The unknown potential dangers alone are enough to not attempt to do this on your own.

If you find yourself faced with the responsibility of cleanup from death, trauma or a violent crime, trust the professionals at Bio Scene Clean Up to perform these services. We maintain all proper training, permits and have the equipment necessary to completely restore a biohazard scene to a safe environment.  Contact us today for more information on how we can protect you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Crime Scene Cleanup

Crime is something that the American population has become desensitized to because of the increased activity and coverage of the media and popular television shows like CSI. Rarely does anyone think about what happens after professionals investigating a crime scene are gone. Bio Scene Clean Up performs crime scene cleanup and other services involving the cleanup of blood and biohazard materials. Often times when the general public sees our trucks or our staff in uniforms, they ask similar questions about what we do. Here are a few of the questions most frequently asked:

Why is it necessary to hire a Crime Scene Cleanup Company?

Every crime scene requiring cleanup has some physical risk potentials. Most commonly, the emotional turmoil experiences when a friend or relative attempts to cleanup a violent crime scene is what we see. In almost every crime scene we clean, there is the presence of blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious or harmful materials. These elements should never be cleaned by an untrained professional. If improper cleanup is performed, the crime scene may visibly appear safe but the harmful risks to those in contact with the scene can remain for months.

Is it dangerous to clean a crime scene?

The answer to this is always “YES”. Every crime scene is different but rarely do the affected parties know the entire scenario of what happened when the crime was committed. Because hazardous or infectious elements can often be present and not seen by the human eye, every scene must be cleaned following a strict protocol to ensure that the scene is returned to a safe area free from any biohazard. Untrained individuals are not familiar with these protocols and may be putting themselves and others at risk.

Who is responsible for crime scene cleanup?

Typically the property owner bears the responsibility of having the scene cleaned and decontaminated. If the crime or traumatic event occurs at a business, it may be the responsibility of the owner of the company and/or the property owner.

There are several other questions that we are asked on a regular basis but the one constant reminder that we always tell anyone inquiring about what we do is “Never attempt to clean a crime scene yourself”.  Hiring a certified biohazard cleanup company like Bio Scene Clean Up will ensure that your property is decontaminated and cleaned properly. Anyone who performs improper cleanup can be liable in the event that anyone who comes in contact with a biohazard scene becomes affected.

Crime Scene Cleanup Services

Bio Scene Clean Up provides Florida Crime Scene Cleaning and the removal of biohazards and waste. As we’ve stated in previous posts, the site of a messy death poses severe danger that you can’t always visually see. Blood-borne pathogens from these scenes can cause infections affect someone for months or years later if not properly cleaned and decontaminated.

Depending on the severity of the death scene, clean up can range from only a couple of hours to 40 or more hours.  The Bio Scene Clean Up technicians have to make certain that the areas are truly clean and properly disinfected, not just apparently clean on the surface. This is equally true of crime scenes, unattended and decomposing death scenes or suicides.

After death, the body swells, insects invade the body, organs self digest and the skin becomes liquefied.  Decomposing bodies expel ammonia gases that create an intense, unforgettable odor. Proper precautions need to be taken in cleaning of these scenes so pathogens are not ingested and the person cleaning the scene doesn’t come into direct contact with any substances or infectious remains.  It is not suggested that a family member, friend or any untrained professional attempt to clean this type of scene.

Bio Scene Clean Up technicians utilize hospital grade disinfectant to clean blood, matter and other materials from walls, ceilings, surfaces, fixtures and any contents contained in the affected area. This also can include the removal of blood-soaked carpeting and rugs, walls, flooring, furniture and any porous components that these bio-hazards cannot be removed from.  Special permits must be obtained and special handling for the disposal of these items must be adhered to.  These are not tasks that an ordinary individual would know.  You cannot simply discard these materials in a dumpster or trash bin because of the potential risk of infection to others, or possibly death not to mention the legal ramifications and fines from authorities if it’s discovered.

Contact a Bio Scene Clean Up representative today for specific information on how we can be of assistance with your Crime, Death or biohazard clean up.

Florida Burglary Crime Scene Clean Up

When a crime occurs in a residential home or place of business, the aftermath can be overwhelming.  The biohazard materials left behind depend on the severity of the intrusion and whether or not violence with occupants are involved.  Even if no physical violence occurs, intruders can still leave behind certain biohazards from broken glass, wooden splinters and often times we find the presence of bodily fluids from vandals who intentionally try to damage a property.

The stressful cleanup of these types of aftermath require a professional company like Bio Scene Clean Up to remove all biohazards and restore properties to a pre-incident state.  When intrusions are violent and involve a homicide, the evidence of biohazards is usually evident. In other cases, the use of special equipment is necessary to discover the trace elements of any biohazard materials left behind.

Bio Scene Clean Up maintains all equipment necessary and is experienced in the cleanup of death, suicide, blood, trauma and various types of crime scenes. Individuals, apartment managers and even general janitorial or cleaning companies are not equipped to handle this type of cleanup and to protect their health and the health of others, we advise that these scenes should not be cleaned by anyone without specific training, knowledge of biohazard removal and disposal or protocol of Federal and State guidelines.

Cleaning of most types of crime scenes involves the use of personal safety equipment to protect yourself from blood, waste and other pathogens that may be present.  Certified biohazard cleanup companies like Bio Scene Clean Up use highly advanced sanitation equipment and effective EPA approved industrial cleaning chemicals or solutions that ensure your property is completely decontaminated and returned to a habitable state.  Any objects that come into contact with these biohazards must be cleaned, sanitized or in extreme cases removed from the scene.  Some materials can be handled in a simple medical waste box while others require proper removal protocols so they do not pose a health threat to the public.  In either event, if you attempt to clean a scene like this on your own and do not follow proper protocol, you may find yourself liable for health risks that may affect other people.

If you need more information about our services, contact our office for a complete list of our biohazard services and the areas in Florida that we serve.

Summertime depression and suicide

As summer rolls into full force most people are busy having fun, planning vacations and family events.  Most don’t realize that SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) haunts thousands of Americans.  Summer months typically show a sharp increase in suicides all across America.

Bio Scene Clean Up provides cleanup services for death, suicide, trauma, crime and many other biohazard incidents all across Florida. Specifically with suicides, the trauma scenes left behind are often gruesome and require the expert skills of a professional biohazard cleaning and removal company like Bio Scene Clean Up.  Because of the dangerous and sometimes fatal pathogens, bodily fluids and other matter that remain after a victim’s body has been removed, these scenes require immediate cleanup to avoid infections and other health related causes that are a result of poor cleanup techniques or accidental exposures.

We suggest that individuals never attempt to clean a scene without the assistance of a professional.  Industrial chemicals and special equipment will be required to remediate and decontaminate the scene and with severe trauma scenes reconstruction of a property is sometimes necessary. Failure to  properly clean these types of scenes can put the property owner in a liable state if someone contracts an infection, disease or dies as a result of the improper clean up.  These harmful pathogens can linger where the event occurred for weeks and even months afterward.  Improper cleaning can also cause horrible odors that can only be masked with normal household cleaners and may require more extensive reconstruction if not immediately disinfected.

Bio Scene Clean Up provides these services for residential and commercial clients all across Florida.  We provide 24 hour emergency dispatch and are experienced in working with investigators and crime scene experts to help restore your property to a hazard free, safe environment.

If you are faced with the task of having to clean up after a suicide or other traumatic death incident, contact our offices immediately so we may assist you in the proper cleanup protocol. Stiff penalties are imposed on individuals every day who do not follow the State and local protocol for cleanup and removal of biohazardous materials and waste.

Why hospice agencies use biohazard cleanup companies

Bio Scene Clean Up maintains relationships with several hospice agencies throughout the State of Florida. These agencies help terminal patients with end of life care, more commonly for patients who wish to die peacefully in the privacy of their own home. So, why do these agencies utilize the services of professional death scene and biohazard cleanup companies.

When a person dies at home several factors can cause the death scene to be a biohazard area that should not be cleaned by untrained professionals.  When a person expires, bodily fluids, urine, feces and in some instances blood are expelled from the body causing an immediate biohazard threat to the health of others.  After death, professionals like a coroner, or funeral home personnel remove the body but they do not perform clean up of the death scene.  These types of biohazard scenes cannot be cleaned with ordinary household products.  The cleanup process requires industrial chemicals and equipment specifically used for the removal and restoration of biohazard scenes.  The debris and materials that remain after the body has been removed must also be disposed of following proper biohazard waste disposal protocols.

Bio Scene Clean Up is experienced in all forms of biohazard clean up and disposal. We clean many types of scenes such as death, crime, trauma, suicide, industrial accidents and even filthy living conditions from things like meth-labs or hoarding.  All of these types of jobs require trained professionals that know how to properly remediate a scene and return it to a safe environment free from contamination and health hazards.  Without companies like ours performing these clean up tasks, individuals and agencies like local hospices, police or coroners would have to complete these cleanups and the health risks and liabilities are too great. It would also be an exuberant cost to train these agencies in the proper protocols that need to be followed.

If you find yourself in need of these types of services, please contact our office for more information on how we can assist. Even if you are a private individual with an aging or terminally ill family member who’s wish is to die at home, it’s important that you know the risks associated once the patient has expired and the liability that you have if you do not properly cleanup these scenes.

Who are Crime Scene Cleaners ?

Who is responsible for the cleanup of Crime, Death, Trauma, Suicide and other Biohazard scenes is often not thought about.  We all see the news or hear about these victims and sometimes horrific things happening, but the thought of who actually cleans up or decontaminates these types of scenes is not thought about.

Who are these people? What are their lives like? And How do they do this type of work? Are the questions that may come to mind when reading this article.  Bio Scene Clean Up is trained in the clean up and decontamination of these types of biohazards, returning the scene to the normal state it was prior to the incident occurring.

For over a decade, we’ve been responsible for cleaning thousands of scenes ranging from suicide, gunshots, stabbings, violent home intrusions, vehicular accidents and even jail cells or police cars that contain blood, urine, feces and other biohazards. We are specifically trained in the removal, cleaning, disinfecting and sometimes remodeling that is necessary to restore these scenes.  After authorities and medical personnel are gone, it’s typically the property owners responsibility to clean up the aftermath of the incident.  As we’ve discussed in previous articles, this poses a significant health threat to the person cleaning and also those around or in contact with a contaminated scene. Special precautions must be followed, equipment used and waste properly disposed (often times with special permits) in order to ensure the safety of all involved.

Bio Scene Clean Up offers professional, compassionate services that aide property owners in cleaning and remediation of any form of biohazard. Our trained technicians can assist property owners with the necessary paperwork for insurance claims and can provide remodeling services for scenes that require physical elements to be permanently removed from a location. We have experience working in maximum security environments and are skilled at minimizing the visual exposure to onlookers or public when necessary.

Biohazard technicians that clean these types of scenes for a living are unique individuals who are passionate about helping clients through a very traumatic time. They are dedicated in restoring scenes to safe environments and protecting the people involved.  These cleaners see sometimes horrible scenes and visually experience things that no one should ever have to see.  Every technician is different and deals with the afterthoughts of their job in different ways. In many ways they are just like everyone else, but in their own way are often quiet in nature, reserved and don’t talk about the work that they do. It’s hard not to have emotional challenges when seeing some of the scenes that require our services but in most cases the desire to help our clients through the trauma and return their lives to some form of normalcy helps negate their emotional states.

Why you should choose a Bio cleanup company with construction capabilities

Hiring a biohazard cleanup company with experience in construction can be a huge cost savings to the property owner. Due to the nature of the scenes being cleaned it is often necessary for a biohazard company to work directly with the contractors who perform rehab construction to ensure their safety and diminish the liability of the property owner.

Bio Scene Clean Up understands the nuances of preparing a property for re-occupation and use. Our services include some rehab construction and we have partnered with contractors who are professionally trained to follow all OSHA guidelines.

We pre-clean the areas of crime, trauma, death and suicide scenes as well as work place accidents and other biohazard scenes in effort to assess what type of construction needs to be performed.  We ensure the site to be safe for contractors to complete the necessary rehab of the property and then complete a thorough clean up after the contractors have completed to ensure that the property is safe, decontaminated and ready for occupancy or use.

Construction waste also contains the same types of biohazards found in the scenes we clean and they must be handled, removed and disposed of properly in order to ensure safety and compliance with state and federal regulations. As a party responsible for the cleanup and removal of these materials, there are strict regulations that must be followed, permits that need to be obtained and special tools and equipment necessary to ensure the safety and well being of everyone involved in the rehab and remediation of the property.

It’s a difficult task that should not be attempted by an untrained individual and is far from a DIY project. It is very difficult to hire a contractor that is unfamiliar with these processes to come in and rehab your property. This is why we suggest that you always hire a biohazard cleaning company like Bio Scene Clean Up who has experience in bot.

Why the costs of Murder and Violent Crime Scene Cleanup are expensive.

If someone dies as a result of a violent crime, murder or suicide in a residence or place of business, the burden of clean up typically falls on the property owner. Obviously this is a traumatic task that few people are willing to undertake themselves. But why are the costs for cleanup of these scenes so expensive?

Biohazard cleanup companies like Bio Scene Clean Up guarantee the scene will be restored to it’s original pre-incident state after the victim has been removed from the scene.  There are several factors that determine the amount of time and services that our clients need. These factors are usually:
•    How long was the death unattended
•    Where it happened
•    What type of scene it is (How it happened)
•    What elements are in the scene where it occurred

If the body was in a decomposing state when removed, the cleanup is even more challenging because insects move into the body after death and may still be in the scene area after the body is removed by a coroner.  It’s customary to also have body fluids, liquefied skin and organ tissues that have soaked into carpeting, flooring or other surfaces in contact with the scene. The most difficult task is generally remediation of the smell from the scene as the body will release ammonia gases that permeate these areas and can linger for months.

Our technicians are required to wear protective suits and respirators and utilize OSHA and EPA compliant chemicals to decontaminate these areas. Special equipment is used and all waste materials must be properly placed in safety sealed bags and disposed of. This usually requires obtaining permits from local officials with specific directives on how the waste is to be transported and disposed.  Sometimes, medical-waste incinerators need to be used for this type of disposal.

Once the initial cleaning has been performed, it is necessary for Bio Scene Clean Up to inspect every detail of these scenes utilizing special instruments and equipment to search for even the smallest trace elements of contamination (not seen with the visible eye). This inspection helps determine if the scene will need our construction crews to remove flooring, walls, insulation or other structural materials in effort to ensure proper cleaning for the safety of our clients.

As you can see from just a few short paragraphs, bio hazard cleaning and decontamination of these types of scenes is more than a simple wash down with bleach. Obtaining permits, disposal charges, and construction costs are common factors that dictate what cleanup charges will be.

Depending on the circumstances, property owners may have coverage options through property insurance policies. In this regard, most companies will provide a service that handles all the paperwork for filing a claim. If insurance coverage is not available, they can also help their clients in contacting various charitable or religious organizations that can provide financial assistance.

How to choose the right biohazard clean up company

Having been in the Crime Scene and biohazard clean up industry for over a decade, I’ve personally worked hundreds of clean up scenes. Surprisingly, several of the jobs I’ve performed were as a result of non-reputable cleaning companies who did not follow proper protocols and techniques when cleaning these scenes.

If crime, trauma, suicide and other biohazard scenes are not properly cleaned, weeks, months, and even a year later clients have reported horrible odors, infestations of bugs, stains and other problems that all stem from the fact that the original cleaning company did not properly remediate.

How do you know if you are hiring a legitimate clean up company? There are a few things to look for when selecting a company.

1. Search for a company that holds certifications in biohazard cleaning.
2. Ask your law enforcement of grief management staff at the scene who they would suggest.
3. Ask the company for references from other clients they’ve worked for. Individuals may not feel comfortable sharing their experience, but a reputable company should be able to provide you with references of companies, apartment managers and other industrial business owners who have used the company’s services.
4. Ask the company representative if they are familiar with working with insurance claims and what happens if the insurance company denies the claim. If they aren’t familiar then chances are they aren’t certified, will cut corners and discount the price greatly. (Referencing the jobs we perform after these companies provide inadequate services)
5. Pay attention to the compassion of the person you are interviewing to hire. Larger national companies do not always provide the best service. Locally owned companies that are certified and have a small staff usually do this type of work because they are compassionate about the clients and have a desire to ensure the safety and good health of their community. You should be able to tell if the person is just working a job, or if they are professional, compassionate and relate to your level of grief and concern.

Not all companies are the same. Building a reputation in the biohazard clean up industry takes hard work, dedication and it’s not something that just anyone can do. Bio Scene Clean Up has provided these professional, compassionate services for over a decade throughout Florida and Northeastern United States. We’ve worked on hundreds of jobs relating to death, trauma, suicide, meth labs, hoarding, animals, gross filth and negligence and more. Contact our office immediately if you have a situation that requires this type of cleaning. Never attempt to clean these scenes on your own. It will put your health and the health of others at a much greater risk
