Death, Trauma and Crime Scene Odor Removal

The removal of odors from homes and buildings is a tedious and often elusive task. Bio Scene Clean Up is trained in odor remediation and disinfecting techniques that will eliminate any trace of odors from these types of scenes.  We are skilled at cleaning odors that arise from many sources such as disaster contaminates, blood and bodily fluids, unattended death decomposition and others.

Most crime, trauma and death scenes contain trace elements of blood, fluids and tissues that are not seen with the human eye.  If these areas are not properly cleaned, you will have putrid odors that can last for weeks, months or in some cases even years depending on the severity of the scene.  Household cleaning solutions will not clean these areas and do not vacate the smell. They are only a temporary masking of the odors and soon as the chemicals dissipate, the odors will return.

Odor removal involves the following general principles:

• Removing the source of the odor as soon as possible. In certain instances, this may include removal of parts of the structure that are immediately affected by the source.

• Cleaning the affected surfaces and materials.  Every porous surface in the affected area must be properly cleaned and disinfected with commercial chemicals that are specifically used for this type of remediation.

• Use of counteractants to restore the area

• Sealing any surfaces that have been in contact such as flooring, porous surfaces etc; if possible

Bio Scene Clean Up utilizes specialized chemicals and equipment to solve the odor contamination permanently by using specific solutions that chemically bond to odor molecules in the air and on surfaces.  Our technicians have the knowledge and equipment to apply restoration techniques that return these scenes to their pre-incident condition.

If you are experiencing odors from a crime, trauma or death scene or you need specific help related to these service areas, please contact our office to learn more about the service areas we cover and our certifications.

Tampa Bay crime rate is down from years past

A recent issue of the Tampa Bay Times indicates that crime in our State is the lowest it’s been in the past 42 years according to news reports. This also seems to be the case on a national average.  According to the Times, the largest drops occurred in motor vehicle thefts, aggravated assaults, larcenies, burglaries and robberies.

Bio Scene Clean Up provides Crime Scene Cleanup Services in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota, FL areas. We have also noticed a difference in the amount of calls we receive for Crime Scene Cleanup versus other biohazard and blood cleanup services that we perform. Because Imprisonment is at an all time high in the nation, we have to wonder if there is a direct relation to the decrease in Crime related incidents?

Government officials seem to think that the decrease is partially attributed by the onset of several anti crime initiatives  such as banning panhandlers, installation of city wide security cameras, programs targeting illegal weapons and even increasing late night police patrol units to accommodate late night bar hours.

The professional technicians of Bio Scene Clean Up are experienced in Crime, Death, Trauma and other biohazard incidents that involve blood cleanup. We offer services to individual victims of crime and tragedy and also professional services for police and emergency vehicle cleanup. While crime seems to be less, the amount of non-crime related incidents involving the need for biohazard cleanup services remains steady.

We recently talked about the dangers associated with untrained individuals who attempt biohazard cleanup, especially from Crimes. When there is a presence of luminol or fingerprint dust, the potential for biohazard contamination spread is much greater. What appears to be a simple cleanup task can turn out to be a huge risk for spreading infectious diseases and contaminating other areas of an incident scene.

If you have experienced a crime or traumatic incident, contact our certified biohazard cleaning team today for assistance. We’re insurance claim experts and offer 24 hour emergency service in Tampa and Sarasota FL to help protect you.

Red light camera accidents and the biohazards associated with them

In recent months the controversy has grown over whether or not red light cameras should be removed because of the amount of accidents and rear end collisions being caused by their presence. Bio Scene Clean Up provides blood and biohazard cleanup associated with accident scenes, trauma scenes and sites that contain medical biohazards and waste from police or emergency personnel.

When traffic accidents occur, emergency responders act very quick to attend to injuries and remove victims from harm. After the scene is cleared if there is a presence of blood, bodily fluids or medical waste, these hazards must be remediated. We are often called to accident scenes to handle these types of cleanup because we maintain the certifications and permits necessary to ensure proper site cleanup and are experienced in practicing thorough cleaning that assures the health and safety of others in or around the accident scene.

Most people don’t realize that accident scenes that contain blood spills and biohazards on surfaces like roadways, auto exteriors, in broken glass and other elements can be spread and carried distances by other vehicles, can affect cleanup crews, tow truck drivers and even onlookers who may be near the scene.  Wet blood can be sprayed on people if cars drive through it, tow truck drivers have to enter the interior of vehicles that contain possible infectious diseases from blood and bodily fluids and so on.

Bio Scene Clean Up technicians are experienced in many forms of blood and biohazard cleanup.  We provide services for Trauma, Death, Accident, Suicide, Crime and other potentially dangerous biohazard scenes. The importance of Crime Scene Cleanup

Most people only see crime, death and trauma scenes on TV shows like “CSI”, “Law & Order” and many others where only post death scenes are shown. For hundreds of Americans every day, crime and trauma becomes a harsh reality.  Bio Scene Clean Up provides biohazard decontamination for death, trauma, crime, suicide and many other forms of biohazard site cleanups.

Death, especially in a violent manner, are messy and almost always contain blood and other bodily fluid spills. Once investigators have completed their jobs, the victims family, friends or the property owner becomes responsible for cleanup and decontamination.

The same scenario applies to crime scenes, even non-violent crimes. There is always fingerprint dust, luminol and other materials used by investigators that are nearly impossible for untrained individuals to clean up. If there is glass breakage there is always a potential for the presence of blood that may not be seen by an individual who attempts to clean the site on their own.

Bio Scene Clean Up maintains proper equipment that is necessary in the discovery of blood and other biohazard materials. Our technicians are qualified to handle and remove the biohazard materials and decontaminate the site returning it to a pre-incident condition.  When you are faced with these situations it is important that you know what could happen if a site is not properly cleaned:

• Undiscovered blood can cause horrific odors, attract bugs and potentially spread communicable disease

• You or the property owner could be held liable for inadequate cleaning if someone’s health becomes compromised or a communicable disease is spread.

• You may end up paying thousands of dollars to restore areas that a professional company like Bio Scene Clean Up could have been able to salvage.

These are just a few examples. Every situation is different and requires a specific cleanup  protocol.  If you or someone you know has experienced a crime, death or traumatic incident, call us now. We offer fast 27/7 emergency services to assist you with proper clean up.

Vacation traveling biohazard tips

Whether you are vacationing in the Blue Ridge Mountains or the sandy white beaches of Marco Island, the same hidden biohazards invisible to the human eye can be found just about anywhere.  During the summer months, vacationers spend time preparing and traveling across the country for what they hope to be rest and relaxation.  How much time do these travelers actually spend preparing for biohazards that they may encounter during their travels? Probably none.

No one really knows the history of hotel rooms, rental accommodations or even rental cars for that matter. You may never know that someone committed suicide or died in the very hotel room you stay in. You probably would never know that the rental car you are driving could have been involved in an accident leaving traces of blood or other bodily fluids that are potentially hazardous to your health.  The bottom line is this information is not publicly known and every precaution for biohazards should be taken.

Bio Scene Clean Up is experienced in the cleanup, remediation and disposal of blood, bodily fluids, matter and other dangerous biohazard materials. These biohazards are always found after a death, crime, traumatic experience or even in cases where illegal drug activity is present. In certain rental accommodations allow for pets and even these accommodations can carry biohazards from pet waste and urine. Let's face it, hotels and rental accommodations do not clean and sterilize the carpeting and materials after each rental period.  It is a commonly known fact that hotels have a laundry cycle for comforters and they are not laundered after every guest.

There are many precautionary measures you can take to help better protect yourself when traveling.  Industrial strength chemicals can be obtained in travel size to help disinfect toilets, showers, sinks and surfaces that are shared in rentals.  Consumers can purchase sleeping nets that help place a barrier between you and hidden biohazards in hotel beds. Hand sanitizer can be used to wipe surfaces of  tables and other areas where you eat or drink and you should always sanitize the TV remote control. In surveys by travel experts, TV remotes are at the top of the list of bacteria and other hazards.

If you are a hotel owner or hospitality manager, we suggest that you contract a certified biohazard cleanup company like Bio Scene Clean Up to ensure the health and safety of your guests after any of these incidents occur.  Contact our office for more information on how our services can help diminish your liability.

Fingerprint Dusting Cleanup and Potential Hazards

If you are the victim of a crime, you’ll have enough to worry about just dealing with the trauma and details after the police and investigators leave.  Some forces employ professional crime scene cleaners like Bio Scene Clean Up to clean the aftermath of a crime however often times it’s left up to the victims themselves to clean.

Depending on the type of crime the scene may have hidden biohazards that most untrained people would not think about.  If it’s a violent crime scene, there is usually a presence of blood or other bodily fluids that can be transferred to various areas of the scene in the process of investigators dusting for prints. The dusting powder used leaves residue on everything in the area. Carpets, furniture and other elements like doors, windows and walls are often covered with residue.  Although very difficult to clean and properly remove, Bio Scene Clean Up utilizes industrial solutions and various equipment to remediate crime scenes. We ensure your property will be returned to a sanitized pre-incident state.

If there is a presence of blood or other bodily fluids, we advise you not to attempt to clean the scene on your own.  Blood and other fluids, once dried, can become airborne and molecules can attach to the fingerprint dust. This means that these areas may potentially contain deadly bio-organisms that can be easily ingested with dust particles in the air or may adhere to clothing or other fabrics and transferred to other areas or people. This type of clean up generally requires a professional company that can remove and dispose of all biohazard waste the proper way. We are a certified biohazard removal company and possess the necessary permits and experience to properly clean and sanitize your property so it’s free from all biohazards.

If you have been the victim of a crime or know someone who is required to clean up a crime, death or suicide scene, contact our office immediately so we can help access the scene and provide you with protection from these dangerous biohazards. We offer 24 hour emergency dispatch services and guarantee that your property will be restored to a safe environment efficiently.

The wrong way to discard biohazard waste

Most people recognize that there are proper procedures that must be followed in transporting and discarding of medical waste.  Occasionally there are some that either choose to ignore the procedures or are simply not educated on the disposal process and don’t realize they are doing anything wrong.

Bio Scene Clean Up provides commercial and residential cleanup services for death, crime, trauma, suicide and other biohazard incidents. Almost every clean up job that we perform contains biohazard waste that much be properly contained, transported and disposed of.  Regulations for biohazard protocols vary by state and can carry sever fines and penalties if not followed.

What you see in this article image is never the proper way to dispose of biohazard waste. Luckily, in this instance, these bags contain regular trash and paper from an office. You should never use biohazard waste bags as normal trash bags.  Red bags marked with a biohazard emblem found like this should be reported to the local health authorities who will investigate to determine who is responsible for the improper disposal and what type of biohazards they actually are.

Biohazard waste that we work with most is any liquid or solid waste that may present a threat of infection to humans. Liquid waste includes blood and other body fluids from humans. Solid waste includes clothing, towels, rags, sheets, gloves, plastic bags, or any objects soiled with blood, or other body fluids. When biohazard waste is improperly managed , it places sanitation workers and the general public at risk for contracting dangerous diseases. We take every precaution and are certified in the handling, transporting and disposal of biohazard waste.  We always suggest that you never attempt to clean these types of scenes yourself as there are very high chances that these scenes contain blood and other pathogens that can be extremely harmful if you come in contact with them.  Most state regulations suggest that you contact a biohazard clean up provider like Bio Scene Clean Up to assist you.

If you see disposal like the one pictured above, of suspect that someone is illegally disposing of biohazard materials, we urge you to contact your local health agency (health department) or contact our office to report it.  If this type of disposal process continues, you may be placing your health and the health of others in jeopardy.
