Manatee deputies looking for suspect who shot man in the foot

Article by Kate Irby,  Bradenton Herald - March 6, 2015

MANATEE -- An 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound in his foot went to the hospital Thursday night saying another man trying to sell him a gun had shot him, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The man said he was walking with his girlfriend on a foot bridge in the 100 block of 61st Avenue West at 5:45 p.m. Thursday when another male walked up to them trying to sell a gun, according to a release.

The victim said he told the suspect no, but the suspect kept insisting and eventually pulled out a chrome handgun and showed it to them, deputies said. The suspect racked the gun when he showed it to them and the gun went off, shooting a bullet through the victim's foot.

The victim went to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he made the report. He said the suspect took off running after the gun went off.
